A Travellerspoint blog

London was never a city high on my list to travel to because when I thought of it, I thought of it like my home town, but much much colder. Man was I wrong though.
I knew it would be a good starting point for me considering the first 2 weeks I would be traveling solo but little did i know how much I would love this city.
I arrived at Heathrow airport to exactly what you would expect from one of the busiest airports in the world - MADNESS! I then went on to my hotel in the stunning district of Notting Hill and it was just beautiful.

Over the next few days in London I experienced all this city had to offer and it did not disappoint. Although this was only my first stop I was very much looking forward to coming back.

How it all started

Throughout school, I was never too clear on what it was I wanted to do with my life however I did know that at some point I needed to travel.

After what I consider to be a rather rough year in 2011 I decided to take off on a little trip to visit my best friend Megan in the European winter of 2012.

Before I had even jumped on a plane to come home I knew 3 weeks was simply not long enough and I need to see more. Upon my return I picked up a weekend bar job to earn some extra cash and come June 2013 I quit my full time office job and set off to travel for the next 3 months through the European summer sunshine.

I was extremely nervous to be travelling half of this time through many different foreign countries on my own but I couldn't have been more excited to be fulfilling a dream and be embarking on a new beginning.
